It’s December 1st, which means the counting down has begun. We’re all counting down to something; either Hanukkah, Christmas, or New Years Eve.
Businesses are counting down, too. Most are reviewing 2018 budgets, fine-tuning strategies, checking lists, checking lists again. But mark my words: No business strategy will be complete if it doesn’t include video marketing.
The 2017 numbers confirm that on average, video has increased customer engagement for companies by 10 to 15 percent.
As long as you create videos that tell a story, convey emotion, show authenticity, and demonstrate transparency to your customers, you’ll find success with video, too.
How can you use video to engage your customers? To jumpstart your creative juices, here are just a few of the hundreds of ways you might use video to benefit your business:
1. Product Demonstration. Do you have a complicated product, piece of equipment or concept you want to explain to your customers or stakeholders? Include footage with your article or email message to better convey your messages.
2. Customer Experience. If you own a barbershop and your website says you give the best lines in the business, you’ll convince more people if they actually see the clippers in your hand, demonstrating your handiwork and your approach to barbering.
3. Testimonials. Let your best customers do the talking for you. These can be a powerful type of video. Film third party endorsements about products or services and put those on your website labeled “Reviews.”
4. Dramatizations. People don’t like to read long articles. Dramatize your employees adhering to company policies. When they’re entertained, they’ll better understand and remember the do’s and don’ts of your operating procedures.
5. Orientation Videos. Instead of having your key staff spend a half-or full-day participating in an on-boarding session with new employees, you might want to film them in action which allows new employees to listen again and again. Orientation films are also great for remote employees who can’t make it into the office.
6. Training (Educational) Videos. Capture the “How-to” steps on camera to inform and/or entertain people about your product or service.
